According to a tweet by Haiti’s Ministry of Communication, the Office of the Presidency sent a large shipment of food, water and sanitary kits to help aid victims affected by severe flooding in the area of Petit-Goâve.
Petit-Goâve (Ti Gwav) is a coastal commune located in the southern part of Haiti’s Ouest department.
It’s also about a 2 hours drive (74.8 km) south of Port-au-Prince via Route Nationale 2.
In recent days, torrential rains caused major flooding throughout the commune.
Petit-Goâve has also suffered catastrophic floods in the past, most recently in 2016 during the passage of Hurricane Mathew over Haiti’s southern peninsula.
