Haiti’s Civil Protection Agency (Protection Civile) reported that between April 24-27, 2022, hundreds of locals were forced to flee their homes following an armed conflict between two rival gangs in & around the commune of Croix-des-Bouquets.
According to a press release published by Haiti’s civil protection agency, the armed conflict has caused the displacement of several thousand people from the neighborhoods of Clercine, Croix-des-Missions, Shada, and Santo.
The government agency is reported that more than a dozen people have already died. Likewise, many others are currently receiving treatment from Médecins Sans Frontières (Doctors Without Borders) at the local hospital facility in Tabarre.
The civil protection agency & its partners on the ground continue to monitor the dire humanitarian situation and is working diligently to assist as many people who have been displaced.
