Haiti’s Prime Minister meets with high-ranking U.S. delegation

According to a press release by Haiti’s Ministry of Communication on October 12, 2022, the Haitian Prime Minister, Dr. Ariel Henry, along with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean Victor Généus, met with a higher-ranking U.S. delegation led by the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Hemispheric Affairs, Mr. Brian Nichols.

In addition to Mr. Nichols, the American delegation included, among others:

· The Director of the International Bureau of Narcotics and Law Enforcement

· The Advisor for Hemispheric Affairs of the Vice-President

· The Deputy Military Commander of Southcom

· The Chargé d’Affaires of the United States of America in Haiti

The high-level meeting between Haitian and American government officials was described as an opportunity to discuss some of the critical security & humanitarian issues currently affecting the country.

A tweet on Mr. Nichol’s official Twitter page stated: “The U.S. remains a steadfast partner of the Haitian people & will continue to support Haiti in this critical time.” The tweet also reaffirmed the “commitment to help address the cholera epidemic & insecurity impeding that response.
