Dominican president announce large-scale purchase of military-grade vehicles
On October 9, 2022, The president of the Dominican Republic, Luis Abinader, announced in a tweet the government’s purchase of the following:
- (6) helicopters
- (10) reconnaissance and surveillance aircraft
- (21) armored vehicles with automatic weapons
- (4) Anti-riot trucks
The president’s tweet also confirmed that this was the largest acquisition of this type by the Dominican government since 1961.

Caribbean Bottling Company to restart operations
The Caribbean Bottling Company, the maker of Culligan water, announced that it would restart operations in Haiti on October 9, 2022. The company halted operations on October 2, 2022, due to diesel fuel shortages.
