Prime Minister Jack Guy Lafontant has temporarily suspended all scheduled price increases on gasoline, diesel fuel and kerosene.
The Haitian government came under massive public pressure to suspend the scheduled fuel price increases after widespread protest broke out throughout Port-au-Prince and other parts of Haiti.
Ironically, news of the suspension came on the same day that the fuel hikes were set to go into effect.
Prime Minister Lafontant also confirmed the suspension in a tweet on his official twitter page.
