Several high ranking officials from Haiti’s tax authority, the Direction Générale des Impots (DGI), held a press conference today to introduce a new online tax filing system.

Haitian tax payers will now be able to declare and pay their taxes electronically directly on the DGI’s official website.

The key government officials present for the announcement were:

Ronald December – Secretary of State for Finance
Miradin Morlan – Director General of Taxes
Serge Rosenthal Junior – Director of Technology of the DGI

According to DGI officials, the new online system should help the agency provide much better service to tax payers.

The new e-file and e-payment options will also help alleviate some of the current issues facing the DGI, such as large crowds that form outside many of it’s local field offices.

Tax payers can take advantage of the new system immediately by visiting: www.dgi.gouv.ht and following the required registration steps.

These much needed improvements have been made possible through the cooperation of Haiti’s Central Bank (BRH), the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) and several other major financial institutions that operate in Haiti.
