Last night, Haiti PM Jean-Henry Céant delivered a passionate speech to advocate for peace and the rule of law.
The speech coincides with the 212th Anniversary of Jean-Jacques Dessalines death.
The PM took the opportunity to commemorate the death of Haiti’s founding father Jean-Jacques Dessalines and what he felt it represented for all Haitian people.
Mr. Céant also called for peace ahead of the PetroCaribe protests scheduled for today.
He reaffirmed the people’s constitutional right to peaceful protest but strongly advocated against the use of any type of violence.
Likewise, the Director General of the Haitian National Police echoed a similar message.
The occasion marks exactly one month since the PM was officially inaugurated on September 17, 2018.
